THANK YOU
Oh man!!! What a great weekend.
It was great to see so many volunteers out helping with the work parties this past weekend. There was a ton of work done on the playground, clearing the pit, which now looks huge, removing old railway ties from behind B and C, trimming brush and trees all over the park, painting and generally sprucing up the park.
A huge THANK YOU to all those that helped out with these tasks AND for those that created the awesome LUNCH to keep the hard-working people fed.
This work helps keep our park "lookin good".
PROTECTING THE DYKE THAT PROTECTS US
Dykes play a crucial role in safeguarding beaches from erosion and preserving their natural integrity.
They act as vital barriers against the forces of wind and water and protecting our park.
For the continued protection of our dyke's structure and integrity, please do not alter or disturb the dyke in any way.
The park board is in the process of seeking advice on the best way to maintain the dyke for years to come.
WHO DO YOU TALK TO IN 2026 IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT SOMETHING IN THE PARK.
As we introduce the new board for the 2026 season, we want to ensure that everyone knows who to contact for specific issues.
If you're unsure who to reach out to, a list of contacts can be found here.
Please refrain from abusing the sewer system.
Do not dispose of items in the sewer that are not appropriate for flushing. The sewer system is designed for human waste only.
Stop flushing food, grease, personal hygiene products, and other items that are not human waste.
Unless you are prepared to come out during your dinner hour or beach time to dig and clean pipes, avoid flushing inappropriate items.
Tips: It is advisable to flush a clean bowl or two to prime your sewer drains when you first arrive, especially at the start of a season.
Please be considerate and avoid flushing items that should not be flushed.
Looks like we are getting a team put together, but we are not yet complete. Thank you to those that have joined the water team.
As a reminder, if we fail to provide water testing to the province, they could shut down our water system. No water means no sewer, no laundry, etc.
We urgently need volunteers to help test the water daily. The process is simple and only takes a few minutes.
Additionally, we need to send samples to Winnipeg every couple of weeks for third-party testing.
Just a reminder that our sewer system is delicate and needs careful handling. Recently, we have experienced several instances of blockages that are caused by improper waste disposal—specifically grease and non-biodegradable items being flushed down the drains. These materials build up over time and create serious plumbing issues, affecting the entire park.
What You Can Do Help:
1. Do Not Pour Grease or Oil Down the Drains:
This includes cooking oils, grease from frying, or
any other type of fat. Instead, let it cool and
dispose of it in the trash.
2. Do Not Flush Non-Biodegradable Items: Items
such as disposable wipes, diapers, paper towels,
Rags or sanitary products should never be
flushed, as they cause clogs.
3. Be Careful with What Goes Down the Drains:
Only 1 ply toilet paper and human waste should
be flushed.
Volunteering is crucial for keeping things running smoothly in our park. It fills gaps, provides essential services, and fosters a sense of unity and support. But it also enriches our own lives. Whether it's lending a hand at an event or helping with repairs and maintenance, every volunteer effort contributes to a more vibrant and connected membership. Please let a board member know you are ready and willing to help wherever possible.
REMINDER OF FIREWORKS RULES AND REGS
Lighting fireworks on trailer park property is NOT PERMITTED. This includes the dike and on the beach in front of our park property.
A permit from the Province of Manitoba is required to light fireworks in public.
SAFE SWIMMING AREA
Please practice good watercraft safety. Please operate your crafts away from the safety buoys marking a safe swimming area.
They buoys are not to mark a slalom course to drive through .
Social committee is always looking for volunteers for upcoming events. Please contact Joelle Fillion-Kopp, Kerstin Hallson, Jenith Rebec to let them know of your interest.
If you are looking for a book to read or even watch a new movie – checkout the bookcases in the hall.
A big thank you to Brenda Guay and helpers for looking after the “Library” at the hall. Lots of sorting and cleaning up, getting rid of books that are falling apart. DVD’s have been kindly donated too….make sure they are returned, for all to enjoy!
Keep and eye open for fire bans from the municipality. Even when there is no ban,
Be Fire Smart.
It looks like we may have some new furry friends this summer, so this is just a reminder to please register your pets with Animal Control (Jim Forcand). Please send your name, pet name and type, and lot number to jr4can@gmail.com.
If you have a new dog, please pick up a sign from Jim to put in your trailer window.
